City of Stanley, Shared-Use Pathway to Stanley Pond & Reservoir Road Resurfacing

Years in the making, the City of Stanley Shared-Use Pathway from 3rd Street SE to Stanley Pond and Reservoir Road Paving project is recently completed. Centrally located, the Stanley City Pond site inspired city visionaries to develop additional recreation and wellness opportunities for citizens of all ages. Using a collaborative planning and fundraising effort, multiple community leaders joined efforts to fund, plan, design, and build this project.

The new 0.4 Mile shared-use pathway enhances connectivity for pedestrians, joggers, and bicyclists. Also, the paving of Reservoir Road (an existing well-traveled gravel roadway adjacent to the shared-use path) improves vehicular access and pedestrian safety. As part of the project, the pond also received upgrades as the ND Game, Fish & Parks used the “Save our Lakes” program to fund dredging, restoration, and restocking of several fish varieties. Finally, the Shared-Use Path & Reservoir Road project provides improved access to the Stanley Pond location where additional development projects are occurring, including the new Stanley Scout Trust Building.

The City was awarded a $275,800 grant from the Outdoor Heritage Fund and a $300,000 grant from NDDOT Special Road Fund to complete the project. Brosz Engineering provided funding assistance, design engineering, and construction administration services.
