HOT SPRINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA
Jennings Avenue serves as a connector roadway to the historic main street in Hot Springs. Spanning the scenic Fall River, the existing 1934 structure requires replacement due to significant deterioration and aging.
With funding attained through the South Dakota Bridge Improvement Grant program, Brosz was hired to complete the environmental documentation, permitting, design and construction of the Jennings Avenue Structure Replacement project. Brosz’s role in the project consisted of an original topography and legal survey, preliminary and final design, right of way acquisition assistance, utility coordination, and Corps permit. The project will consist of replacing a 1934 120’ 2-span steel girder bridge with a 125-foot-long, 2-span prestressed concrete girder bridge with a concrete deck. Work will also include reconstructing approximately 100’ of the existing street. Construction will begin in the spring of 2020.
