PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA
As its name implies, Airport Road provides direct access to the Pierre Regional Airport and serves as a transportation hub. Due to increased traffic and typical deterioration, the street has needed repairs for many years.
Currently under construction, the $2.3 million improvement project will go a long way to improving local infrastructure. General contractor, Morris, Inc. of Fort Pierre, is completely rebuilding the roadway from Lowell Avenue to east past the airport terminal entrance. In addition to the new asphalt surface, the substantial street project includes new stormwater drainage and a sidewalk on the south side of the road. Consequently, a detour is planned for B Street during construction to accommodate local traffic. The team anticipates project completion for the fall of 2021.
Brosz Engineering designed the project and is currently providing construction management services for the City of Pierre.
