Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, Education Trail Improvements

NIOBRARA, NEBRASKA

Located along the Niobrara River, the Education Trail provides an opportunity for the Ponca people to come home, experience the elements, and understand the interrelatedness of the Ponca culture with the Community Building property, the Niobrara River Valley, the Missouri River area, and Grandmother Earth.

Originally a gravel walkway, Brosz was hired to provide design engineering and construction administration to pave the existing trail. Pavement increases accessibility and improves year-round access. The project also included a new plaza area with concrete parking at the Chief Standing Bear Statue and a new restroom/shower facility that doubles as a storm shelter.
