Crossing Park Creek along Garfield Avenue in Madison, SD, this bridge project replaced the original deteriorating single-span structure. With the design and funding completed by SDDOT, the Sioux Falls Area Office then hired Brosz Engineering to provide full construction engineering services. Services included construction administration, construction inspection, materials testing, construction staking, and project close-out.
The project began in June 2020 and was completed in November 2020. Work activities and improvements included:
- temporary channel diversion
- existing bridge removal
- sanitary sewer retrofit
- steel pile installation
- foundation and bridge deck construction
- sidewalks
- pedestrian railings
- erosion control
- asphalt surfacing
